Building Skills and Overcoming Barriers
Jack came to Nara Training and Assessing in Bunbury through a support provider. At the time, he was experiencing homelessness and lacked many of the essentials needed to gain employment such as identification, suitable clothing and even a phone. His journey reflects the wider challenges faced by many Australians, particularly during Homelessness Week, which raises awareness about the barriers people encounter when trying to rebuild their lives.
What Jack did have was resilience, and a willingness to give things a go.
Our team worked with Jack to remove the barriers in his way. We helped source basic items, provided meals, and supported him through training in dogging and rigging. In time, Jack secured a job offer and a new pathway forward.
“A big thanks for giving a bloke who was a bit down on luck a little bit of a hand up, especially when you didn’t have to, but you did! I’m very thankful for your help,” Jack told our team.
Training That Transforms Lives
At Nara, we believe that vocational training and job-ready skills can change lives, but only when people have the support they need to access it. Jack’s story demonstrates how practical assistance — combined with industry training such as dogging and rigging courses — can empower individuals to move from disadvantage towards sustainable employment.
“To assist someone to find their way is incredibly rewarding. Seeing Jack succeed and his future shift in such a positive direction was a proud moment for all of us,” said Justine Wright, Operations Manager.
Creating Pathways Beyond Homelessness
Jack’s journey is a reminder that with the right support and opportunities, even the toughest challenges can be overcome. His story reflects the true meaning of moving from hardship to hope — showing that practical skills, compassion, and determination can open the door to a brighter future. At Nara, we remain committed to helping more individuals like Jack find their pathway forward.
